Great photo effects! Any idea how the photographer made that happen?

Hi Joe
Other than the fact that it pissed with rain, no. But I'll ask Chris.

Er, spray and rain on the lens I would think...

I took this shot using a fairly straightforward method, involving pointing the camera directly into the sun, whilst ensuring there was a liberal amount of salt and rain water on the lens with a dash of snot from my hanky, where I was constantly wiping the lens. I think the overall effect is quite unusual and pleasing.

It has a sinister look about it and was even more so on the day, with the swarm of Moths gliding silently by at some speed!

Congratulations on a good win Si.

Great shot Chris. I love it. You should consider mass mamufacturing & selling the hanky as the effect is amazing! The Mothmen are going rather than coming though! Cheers!

I am not sure that many people would subscribe to the snotty hanky technique.

I am not sure whether the Moths generally know whether they are coming or going! From where I was in the safety boat it mostly looked to be mostly chaos, with Moths heading in multiple different directions as the attached photo shows
